and MORE in downtown Virginia
The Lyric Center for the Arts and ReVive Virginia will host the 2019 Bridge Daze; the regional celebration honoring the determination and resilience of the Iron Range people as symbolized by the Highway 53 Bridge itself. With Fun, Fitness and Friendship we pay tribute to the hard working people, past and present, who have made, and continue to make, our communities as strong as the tallest bridge in Minnesota and Volkswalk supports the Arts as well!
During Bridge Daze the LYRIC’s 6th Annual Volkswalk fundraiser will highlight tidbits of Virginia’s fascinating past. This noncompetitive family friendly walk/bike ride starts at 3:00 at the Lyric Center for the Arts, 510 Chestnut Street. Register with a Free-Will donation at the Lyric and get a souvenir, “Fandana,” a drink chip for a craft beer at the 218, and Walk & Seek clue list to help you discover Virginia from a new perspective! Volkswalk, a fund raiser for the Lyric Center for the Arts, and Bridge Daze 2019 will be held on Saturday, September 14th.
Check out the public art experience called “Felt Here” while you’re downtown. Anytime during noon to 3 or so, take part in a conversation with this interactive work of art while felting ‘taconite’ pellets, print-making.
The 218 Street Show will feature Brianne Marie and the Front Porch Singers, and Jacob Mahon and The Salty Dogs. Music from 3:30 – 7:30. Mesabi Outdoor Adventures invites you to bike on down the trail to Gilbert and back under the Harvest Moon. Meet up at the 218 and head out at 7pm. Participants will get a free headlamp and 218 drink chip.
