Lyric Art Colony

Space and Time for Artists of all painting abilities to gather ~ sit, paint & share; who could ask for anything more!  The Lyric Art Colony is a group of Artists with a love and appreciation for the Arts, and in particular, painting!  The is open to all painters and meets every week.

Thursdays ~ 12:00pm-2:30pm at The Lyric First Stage Art Gallery,
510 Chestnut Street, downtown Virginia

Classes 2018

Fun with Flowers watercolor workshop with Sarah Guy-Levar

This watercolor workshop is perfect for both beginning and experienced painters. The 2-day workshop will cover easy step-by-step drawing instructions and proven techniques to create watercolor paintings of daisies, sunflowers, roses and tulips. In an atmosphere of creativity and fun we will usher in the the beauty of summer.

Friday, April 27th, 3:00pm-9:00pm and Sunday, April 28th, 10:00am-5:00pm

The Lyric is committed to providing the space and environment for established Artists and emerging Artists alike to exhibit their work. Facilitateing artistic expression while creating opportunities for economic growth for both the artist and our community is what we do. The First Stage Art Gallery has been exhibiting works by Artists from across the region and the northern US since 2006. Each month the gallery showcases a new exhibit and includes an Artist’s Reception.

Annual Iron Range Exhibit
Join us as we celebrate through art, what we value most about The Iron Range during the month of August.  Work, play, everyday…this is a chance to show what we’ve got to offer! Artists interested in applying for this group exhibit should submit:
  • A written narrative about your artwork – please include whether the work has been exhibited at another venue (where and when) and whether the work will be for sale with approximate price points.
  • Artist Statements
  • Artist Bio
  • Digital images of piece of artwork. If it’s a work in progress send 6-8 images that are representative of the exhibition proposal.  Please label images in this format: ArtistName-Title-Size-YearCompleted.jpg

Artists, Artisans and Fine Crafters! We will kick off the Lyric Holiday Market celebration, (formerly known as The Holiday Boutique), on Saturday, November 24th! Bring us your wares; we are looking for quality handcrafted items of approximately $100 or less for this year’s Holiday Market.

  • Towels, hot pads, mittens, socks, scarves and hats
